Teeth
Dental enamel can be damaged by the acidic content of apple cider vinegar. To avoid this potential side effect, only drink apple cider vinegar diluted in water. Use a straw to divert the vinegar from direct contact with teeth. Rinse thoroughly after taking apple cider vinegar and follow with a thorough brushing.
Stomach
Ingesting large amounts of apple cider vinegar may cause stomach problems. These could include nausea, diarrhea, indigestion or heartburn. Mix some honey in with the apple cider vinegar, or add to water, to lower the effects of the cider's acid.
Blood
A low potassium blood level has been noted as a potential side effect. This can lead to osteoporosis and low bone density. Do not use apple cider vinegar if you have osteoporosis or bone density issues.
Allergies
Potential allergic reactions may include hives, rash, itching, swelling or breathing issues. If you experience any allergic reactions, stop using apple cider vinegar immediately and call your doctor to discuss.
Skin
Skin may be irritated by full strength apple cider vinegar. Dilute the vinegar with water prior to applying to your skin.
